Summer vacations: Trip to Yumbel, Concepcion
I think this is the most enjoyable time I ever
had.
During the summer vacations, for almost ten
years, my family and I travelled to Yumbel; a small city located in the VIII
Region.
My father was born there, so we went to visit
my cousins, uncles, and my grandmother. We visited the school he studied in,
the places he attended to, other villages and the graveyard when are buried his
uncles, cousins and father.
During our journey, we visited a very small
village call Rere. It has almost 50 houses, a square and an old bell tower, from
the time of the Spanish Conquest. It is a very beautiful place.
In another occasion, we attended an old custom
called “Trilla”. They use horses to separate the thatch to the grain. It is a
kind of southern party.
In Yumbel, in January 20th and in
March 20th, the citizens celebrate San Sebastian Holiday. People from
the entire South and others locations of the country, gather in the square of
the town and celebrate in his name.
My trips to this city were the nicest times I
had in my childhood. I really hope we travel to Yumbel one last time.
